ERC-1400 is the partitioned security token standard designed for complex financial instruments that require granular control over ownership and transfers. The key innovation of ERC-1400 is "partitions" — a single token can be divided into different tranches, each with its own transfer rules, rights, and restrictions. This enables sophisticated financial products: a bond can have senior and junior tranches with different risk profiles; equity can be split into common and preferred shares with different voting rights; and invoices can represent specific payment obligations with defined maturity dates. ERC-1400 also provides built-in document management, allowing issuers to attach and update legal documents (prospectuses, term sheets, audit reports) that are referenced by hash for integrity verification. The standard is widely used for trade finance, invoice factoring, structured products, and any regulated instrument that requires partitioned ownership. ERC-1400 Standard→
